Since prehistoric times, artists have sought to set free images they see trapped within natural stone. In fact, stone sculpture is the oldest form of expressive art, and although they are using the same basic approach and very similar materials, each artists' vision, style and technique coaxes unique and uncommonly beautiful figures from solid blocks of stone.

This exhibition features more than 50 distinct works of art completed in the Centers' Stone Sculpture Studio—a workshop full of sound, color and boundless creativity.

“I believe in the harmonious coexistence of abstraction and realism thereby enhancing and enriching each other. My work embodies realism in abstraction—transcending and encompassing these doctrines.” —Joan Brechin Sonnenberg
