Exhibit Your Artwork

Each year the Centers for the Arts Bonita Springs presents a dynamic and wide-ranging selection of exhibitions which both appeal to and enlighten our membership and visitors.

While some exhibitions feature member, faculty or student artists from our own community, other shows feature traveling exhibitions from national institutions in the U.S. or artworks from around the world.

Our schedule provides events that focus on a particular theme, medium or concept. The Summer features regional artists, October features a traveling exhibition, and February features our Annual Members Exhibition.

Landscapes and seascapes are popular examples of views, but they are not the only types of view eligible for entry. Artists finding inspiration in ideas, thoughts and feelings are also encouraged to participate. Depictions of a person’s thoughts and feelings may be abstract, but not all inner views are abstract. Take surrealism as an example, where artists provide a view of their innermost thoughts and emotions in a mostly realistic manner. There are endless possibilities for the depiction of views, be they geography in the world around us or very personal views found only in the mind.

Texture is one of the seven Elements of Art artists use when creating artwork. There are two types of texture. Actual Texture is physical texture. Implied texture is the suggestion or illusion of texture through marks, lines and brushstrokes repeated to create a pattern of surface texture. We feel actual texture with our hands. Implied texture is felt with the eyes. In this exhibition, artists use texture to produce a sense of space, create emotion or add impact to their artwork.
