New York-based percussionist, singer-songwriter, and guitarist Nanny Assis was born in Salvador, Brazil, and has played with well-known artists such as Janis Siegel, Vinicius Cantauria, Eumir Deodato, Joao Donato, and Paul Simon. He is a teacher of Brazilian jazz, Afro-Brazilian music, and other folk sounds of his native land. He has a great capacity for Brazilian Jazz, Bossa Nova, Forro, and a series of Afro-Brazilian sounds.
In 2011 Nanny Assis received the prestigious Best Singer of the Year Award from the Brazilian International Press.

Es profesor de jazz brasileño, música afrobrasileña y otros sonidos folclóricos de su tierra natal.
