Ragtime – America’s original popular music – is happy, uplifting music, yet somewhat mysterious to the average American listener. Come listen as Peter Bergin plays the music of Scott Joplin, James Scott, Joseph Lamb and other composers, lifting the curtains to demonstrate how ragtime got its name and trademark sound, how it influenced early American songwriters and related genres, and how The Entertainer (from the Academy award-winning film, The Sting) attained its immortal place on the ice cream truck!
