Watercolor the Florida Landscape
Instructor: Joel Popadics
Demo: Monday, March 20, 3-5pm (included in workshop tuition)
Join Joel Popadics for a four-day watercolor workshop. In the spirit of Winslow Homer and John Singer Sargent, we’ll paint the tropics, in particular the unique aspects of the Florida landscape. We’ll explore ways to improve our watercolor techniques using a wet-in-wet technique to capture a humid sky and stormy weather. Joel will show you how to mix the pastel tones and delicate colors of a gulf coast sunset. You’ll learn useful brushwork to paint the ornamental shapes of palm trees including the palmetto, coconut palm and banyan trees. Joel will also demonstrate how to paint waves, seascapes and other bodies of water.
