Tuesdays, January 23 - May 7, 2023

 

Discovering Dance and Tap
Ages 2.5-4

3:45-4:30pm

Designed for our youngest dancers. We bring together literature, costumes, music and props, along with basic age-appropriate dance moves for enhanced learning for boys and girls. Families are encouraged to enroll their young dancers in the class to establish and cultivate basic beginners' interest in dance as well as socializing with peers in a fun and healthy way. We also learn some basic tap dance moves. Students must be at least 3 years old by December 1, 2023 and be potty-trained.


Pre-Primary in Dance and Tap
Ages 5-6

4:30pm-5:30pm

This class includes basic ballet technique and builds classical and contemporary dance styles using a variety of music. Beginning tap technique is also learned.


Dance 2
Ages 9+

5:30pm-6:30pm

Following the 1st and 2nd level of the Royal Academy of Dance* children's graded syllabus with more challenging technique and style while building strength and knowledge of steps. In addition to ballet-based movements, expressive contemporary dance is introduced.


Wednesdays, January 24 - May 1, 2023

 

Jazz/Tumble
Ages 4-8

4:30-5:30pm

Basic, age appropriate jazz steps and technique are learned along with simple and basic tumbling skills on the mats, such as cartwheels, kick-overs and handstands.


Parent and Me
Ages 2-5

5:30pm-6:15pm

New this year at Arts Bonita! This class is for ages 2-5 with one parent participating.  It can be just mom, just dad or alternate mom one week and dad the next. It can even be with a grandparent or nanny. This fun, creative class will help promote a sense of balance for parents by allowing them the opportunity to socialize and meet other parents with similar interests. Making new friends with children of similar age creates a beneficial support system. Classes provide a safe and fun environment where kids can make friends and learn how to share and take turns. We will learn and practice simple ballet steps and dance movements.


Jazz Tap/Acro Dance/Broadway Style Dance
Ages 9+

6:15pm-7:15pm

This active, challenging, fun and entertaining class features many different styles from popular musicals along with the technique needed to perform the steps. Jazz, Tap and Acro Dance styles will be learned and practiced.  Musical theater students will find this class to be helpful in their movement training.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Thursdays, January 25-May 2

 

Primary in Dance & Tap
Ages 6-8

This is a fun,  basic ballet technique class that is also open to adult students. Students must be 13 or older. Previous ballet experience is helpful, but not mandatory. Adult students should register with the Adult Education Department.


Saturdays, January 27-May 4

 

Parent and Me
Ages 2-5

9-9:45am

This exciting high energy class will encompass jazz style dance technique and movements. Additionally, tumbling and simple acrobatic skills will be learned and practiced.


Lyrical Dance
Ages 11+

11:45am-12:45pm

A fusion of ballet, jazz and other contemporary dance styles. Dancers learn to use music, lyrics and dance moves to express emotions and story content.


Performance Group

This is by invitation only for a group to learn choreography to be performed at various locations, including competition.

*The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) is an international teacher education provider and awarding organization for dance. Established in 1920 as the Association of Operatic Dancing of Great Britain, it was granted a Royal Charter in 1936 and renamed the Royal Academy of Dancing. In 1999 it became the Royal Academy of Dance. RAD-Registered teachers abide by a strict code of conduct and must complete a minimum number of continuing education credit hours each year. Annual Exams, Class Awards and Solo Performance Awards are offered to students, but are not mandatory. RAD classes are held in over 80 countries around the world with the syllabus encompassing training for age 4 through adult. The mission is to promote and enhance knowledge, understanding and practice of dance internationally, by educating and training teachers and students and by providing exams to reward achievement.
